Green IT Support

Environmental considerations are playing an increasingly important role in our business, and we suspect, yours too. Whether thinking and living “green” is a strong personal interest of yours or not, there are an increasing number of ways to make commercial savings through green IT choices. Here’s what a UK Government report says about IT and the environment.

” Technology analysts estimate that the manufacture, use and disposal of IT equipment contributes around 2% of global emissions of carbon dioxide. This is about the same as aviation, although the IT sector is larger, aviation emissions have a greater effect on climate because they are released directly into the upper atmosphere.

However, as the use of IT grows, its emissions are also likely to increase despite improvements in efficiency. It is currently estimated that IT will be responsible for 3% of all global emissions by 2020. “

Even if you prefer to put carbon dioxide aside (we wouldn’t), one other fact that’s hard to ignore is that the cost of UK business electricity roughly doubled between 2003 and 2007 and that trend is unlikely to reverse. So, managing the electricity used, or wasted, by IT equipment is becoming increasingly influential to the environment and your profits.

By choosing us as your IT support partner, you could improve your bottom line and the help environment too.

  • When you need to buy new equipment, we deliberately research and recommend the most energy efficient items. These usually include high efficiency components and in some cases, the ability to automatically manage electrical consumption based on what users are doing at the time
  • Because we are local, we won’t be driving miles and miles to visit your site, unlike some larger national support services, and who will also be charging much more than we will, in part to support a geographically diverse customer base. When we do hit the road, we drive modern, high efficiency diesels that meet the latest Euro low-emission standards.
